Description: <a href="http://activeplaces.com" title="Active Places">Active Places</a> is basically a terrible website that is very hard to use. We scraped the data and showed how easy it is to make that data available in more useful formats. <ul> <li>We built a KML file for Google Earth and showed the data available on an iPhone.</li> <li>We built a Ruby on Rails app that provides a simple way to search for local sports facilities and displays them on an embedded Google Map.<br /> <a href="http://activeplaces.jamesandre.ws">Active Places Reloaded</a></li> </ul> At the presentations we were pleased to have been selected by Brian Hoadley of <a href="http://direct.gov.uk" title="Directgov">Directgov</a> as a project they'd like to follow up on. <hr> The team consisted of <a href="http://twitter.com/chrisroos" title="Chris Roos">@chrisroos</a>,<a href="http://twitter.com/lazyatom" title="James Adam">@lazyatom</a>, <a href="http://twitter.com/jamesandrews" title="James Andrews">@jamesandrews</a> and <a href="http://twitter.com/tomtaylor" title="Tom Taylor">@tomtaylor</a>. <hr> For more information read Chris Roos' <a href="http://chrisroos.co.uk/blog/2009-03-09-hack-the-government-day-rewired-state" title="Chris Roos on Hack the government day with rewired state">blog post</a>.
